Installer Resets Previous Toolbox Items

I've had users complain that my MSI installers, using this software as a custom action, is Resetting and removing all previous items from the Toolbox, other than the standard, pre-packaged controls, of course.
Is this a known bug? Is it something I'm doing incorrectly?
Thank you!

I've used the toolbox manager for some projects now, and I haven't experienced this problem.

Can you please post your command line arguments?

Oh, and a few more questions:

On what operating system is it malfunctioning? Vista, XP or both?
With what version of Visual Studio isn't it working? 2005 or 2008?

Honestly I cannot yet reproduce this bug either - but I'm getting consistent reports from my users, and I'm trying to gather data.

From what my users tell me, it's happening in both my VS 2005 and VS 2008 installers. I haven't gotten feedback on the Operating Systems yet, but I use Vista Business and haven't had a problem.

I've attached the custom code I used with your installer software to round it out into a Setup and Deployment Custom Action. The code for VS2008 looks very similar.

The part of it that uses your software is the following:
        // Install toolbox components
        ToolboxInstaller _Installer = new ToolboxInstaller();

        foreach (string location in locations)
            _Installer.Tasks.Add(new Task(location, str_tabName, "WindowsApplication.zip"));

        _Installer.IsVisualStudio2005 = true;

        // Perform all tasks

        // Shut down all instances of Visual Studio we've been using
Thank you graciously for any help regarding this problem.

Can't really find any problems with your code. Two ideas to check out:

1) Are you sure that the location and str_TabName are always set correctly? Don't know what happens if one or both are empty strings. It OUGHT not be a problem, but you never know.

2) Are you sure that the dll's to install are always .NET components?

Hi, again, (this is kuchman88, new account)

Sorry I never got back to you. I'll try to answer your questions.

Here's a complaint from one of my users (link: http://www.asp.net/community/control-gallery/Item.aspx?i=2037):

"Also, when I downloaded it about 6 months ago, it completely initialized the Visual Studio 2005 IDE to out-of the box settings, except of course adding the ASPNetToolTip to the Toolbox. Beleive it or not, I tried it again the other day, this time the whole ASPNet Suite. I now use VS 2008. It again, ititialized the complete IDE setting, except of course, adding it own controls in the toolbox. It even wiped out my AJAX toolkit controls in the Toolbox!"

Personally, I've been unable to reproduce this at all, but I'm speaking with a customer right now that can:

"By the way. using the MSI installer for the tool-tip blows all of the options, macros, etc. that have been installed. This happened to me and is part of a review of the product (by someone else) on ASP.NET and something that should be addressed very quickly."

If it would help, what would you have me ask him? What other information could I provide to help debug this situation?

Thanks again
